Award Showcase Spectacular
In case you hadn't noticed, free-to-play games are a pretty big deal these days. And at a PC-focused show like Gamescom, they're an especially big deal. Luckily for you, we've spent countless hours looking through the weirdest, craziest, and scariest games on display here at Gamescom to bring you the Gamescom Free-to-Play Award Showcase Spectacular!

Most Historically Educational Way to Destroy Planes Winner: War Thunder
From Gaijin Entertainment comes this WWII-based vehicular combat game where one half is a player-versus-player massively multiplayer online game that has players filling the sky with dueling airplanes (and ground vehicles to follow in a later update) while the other half is a campaign that lets you reenact battles such as Peleliu, Guadalcanal, and more. Learn the ropes of aerial combat while taking part in some of history's most memorable conflicts, and then start blasting rival planes from the sky when not decorating your plane with era-specific pinup girl decals.

War Thunder Most Terrifying Depiction of American Crime From a Korean Developer Winner: District 187: Sin Streets District 187 is a scary vision of urban crime in America. In this first-person shooter, crime is so prevalent that street gangs and police SWAT teams are locked in a perpetual turf war, stealing money away from each other in game modes like Bank Heist and outfitting their weaponry with increasingly deadly attachments as they work up through a COD-like leveling system. Clearly, no citizen is safe. But it's probably their own fault for moving to a place called District 187 to begin with  Most Compelling Reason to Hope We Don't Find Ancient Treasure on Mars Winner: Star Conflict

Also from Gaijin Entertainment is this space combat MMO game about a future where man has discovered the treasures of an ancient civilization in a distant galaxy. And subsequently, as humankind so often does, we all just end up fighting over it. In this case, though, that fighting is done using powerful spaceships that you can upgrade through absurdly detailed tech trees. So, on second thought, maybe we should find ancient treasure on mars. Star Conflict Defianc Above: Star Conflict (left), Defiance (right) Best Reason to Watch Syfy that Doesn't Involve Giant Sharks Fighting Robotic Dinosaurs Winner: Defiance Trion Worlds and Syfy have pooled their resources to create a postapocalyptic world that spans both television and video game. The aim for this union is to have both sides influence each other in interesting ways. For example, a character in the game may steal an important item from the player only to have that item pop up again in the show. Or a character in the show may digitize themselves into the game, where they are then spawn camped, and the whole operation is brought to a screeching halt. Best Game Based On a Game Show About Murdering People for Fun Winner: Bullet Run In the near future of the Bullet Run universe, a revolutionary new "Synth" technology lets people reincarnate themselves into new bodies upon death. This groundbreaking, scientific achievement--which skirts the edges of divinity--is put to use fueling the latest reality-TV craze: Bullet Run. Just imagine Big Brother, but with a lot more guns and a lot less…everything else. Here, the goal is not only to win, but to hype up the crowd with fancy kills and strategically deployed taunts. Plus, you can play right now.
Best Submarine-Based Game That Doesn't Involve Sean Connery
Winner: Silent Service
Ubisoft's stable of free-to-play, browser-based games includes the hardcore submarine sim Silent Hunter Online. Life on a submarine is anything but riveting, and to Silent Hunter's credit, it manages to reflect that sentiment quite well. Of course, once a dozen or so friends join in, one-on-one naval battles quickly scale to epic, explosive exchanges of torpedoes. As the captain of your vessel, you must manage your crew efficiently and pay close attention to the numerous gauges and displays surrounding the periscope. Should you fail in your mission, you may find yourself in a steel casket on the bottom of the ocean before you know it.
Best Way to Play a Ubisoft PC Game That Doesn't Involve Waiting a Month After the Console Version Winner: Anno Online Ubisoft's city-building sim gets its first multiplayer release in the form of a browser-based, Flash 11 game, but there is little sacrificed in the way of scale, or detail, in the transition. Friends can work together to create gigantic empires that are indistinguishable from those found in the retail releases, and if you wish to speed things up, a tiny donation to Ubisoft will help speed things up. With the help of hundreds, if not thousands, of other players, your civilization has the potential to grow to a massive scale through cooperative efforts and trade, rivaling the enormity of empires found in other games in the Anno series, if not the entire world-building genre

In the midst of this chaos a new hero enters the scenery. He is a simple Shaikan, a member of the Hand, who has embarked on a quest for answers to his deeply disturbing dreams. This quest takes him to the very roots of his race, to the Iron Fields, to the Mountain of the Patriarch Ur. It is all about his destiny, about his soul. After all it is the only thing he knows. It was released on March 20, 2012 in North America, and scheduled for release on March 22, 2012 in Australia, March 23, 2012 in Europe and April 26, 2012 in Japan.[2] It is part of the Resident Evil series, being set around the same time as Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis titles, though it is a non-canon hypothetical scenario

Plot

Umbrella Security Service (USS) Delta team enters the Raccoon City Underground Laboratory, where they meet up with Alpha team leader HUNK. Their mission is to assist Alpha team in stopping Dr. Birkin from handing over his T-Virus research to the U.S. military and retrieve the G-virus. On their way to Birkin's lab, they find Birkin has paid numerous Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service (UBCS) mercenaries to work for him while the deal goes forward. When they reach Birkin's lab, the doctor is shot, and HUNK and another Alpha leave with the samples. They soon find that Birkin survived the attack and infected himself with the virus. The Birkin creature proceeds to kill off most of Alpha team before disappearing; HUNK offers to go back in search of the sample.

Not long after the battle, it becomes evident that the T-virus has leaked city-wide, and people are beginning to transform into flesh-hungry zombies. In what they see as a punishment by USS command, Delta team is ordered to remove evidence of Umbrella's role in the outbreak. Heading into Raccoon City Hall, Delta team meets with a UBCS mercenary and they monitor Nicholai Ginovaef; he is soon revealed as a traitor and attempts to kill Delta team.

Later, the team is sent out around Raccoon Park to find the Nemesis-T Type, which has gone rogue. A second parasite is injected into its body in order to bring it back under control. Shortly after this mission is completed, the team is then sent out to the Raccoon City Police Department, ordered to kill any surviving police officers and destroy evidence linking the company to the outbreak. When this is done, the team exits the station, and soon after encounter Leon S. Kennedy, whom they begin to hunt down along with Sherry Birkin. After they find and corner Leon, Claire Redfield and Sherry, the game can end in two ways: in one ending, the team resigns from Umbrella over their abandonment during the mission and betrays them by letting the three live; in the other, Leon and Claire are executed and Sherry is sent to an Umbrella facility
Gameplay

There are twelve playable characters in the game, with six characters for each side. On the Umbrella Security Service team there is: Vector, the team's recon expert and is equipped with a cloaking ability; Beltway, who is proficient in the use of explosives; Bertha, the medic; Spectre, the marksman; Four Eyes, the scientist, with the ability to program the bio-organic weapons (BOWs); and Lupo, who is the team leader.[citation needed] On the United States Special Ops team there is: Willow is the recon expert; Dee-Ay is the team leader; Tweed is the demolitions expert; Harley is the medic; Shona is the field scientist; and Party Girl is the sniper.[4]

Alongside the single player mode, the game also offers four-player co-operative Raccoon Mode, which pits the USS against the U.S. Special Ops teams.[5][6]

The zombies in the game are able to attack the player in a multitude of ways. A zombie that gets too close to the player will usually attempt to grapple the player, prompting the player to rapidly shake his/her analogue stick to avoid getting bitten. Players who are unsuccessful in doing this will be infected for a limited amount of time. Whilst they are infected they gain small bonuses at the expense of a slowly depleting health bar. If a player is successfully bitten and later runs out of time after becoming infected, the player will lose control of their character and begin attacking their former teammates until killed, allowing the player to respawn. There are additional enemy types in the game besides zombies, such as Lickers, Hunters, and Cerberuses. Furthermore, the players are able to control them under certain circumstances.[citation needed]

Heroes Mode is an online multiplayer feature allowing to play characters such as Leon S. Kennedy, Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine and Carlos Oliveira, plus Ada Wong, HUNK, Nicholai Ginovaef and a new character, called Lone Wolf.[citation needed]

Xbox 360-exclusive Nemesis Mode allows one player to control Nemesis and use him to kill the other team.[citation needed]

Free DLC pack containing playable missions for Spec Ops arrives on April 10 for the Xbox 360 and the PS3

Silent Hill 3

Silent Hill 3 game for pc full version download  is a survival horror video game published by Konami for the PlayStation 2 and developed by Team Silent, a production group within Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo. It is the third installment in the Silent Hill series and a direct sequel to the first Silent Hill game.[1] It was released in May 2003, with a port to Microsoft Windows released in October of the same year. A remastered high-definition version was released for the PlayStation 3[2] and the Xbox 360[3] on March 20, 2012.[4]

Set seventeen years after the events of Silent Hill[5] in which Harry Mason defeats the god of the town cult and is given a baby girl to care for, Silent Hill 3 focuses on Heather, a teenage girl who finds herself being drawn into Silent Hill's alternate reality. She discovers that the cult plans to use her to birth their god, and becomes caught in a conflict within the cult.

Silent Hill 3 was mostly well-received by critics, especially in its presentation, including the environments, graphics and audio, as well as the overall horror elements and themes that are continued from past installments
Gameplay in Silent Hill 3 resembles closely that of its two predecessors,[6] the three main gameplay elements being combat, exploration, and puzzle-solving.[7] Combat, as exploration, takes place in third-person view, with the player able to equip weapons found throughout the game. Heather may also block and perform side-step maneuvers to avoid enemies.[6] As a series staple, the flashlight and radio return, the latter of which crackles when monsters are in proximity.[8]

Players can set the difficulty of both the combat and puzzle elements of the game separately.[9] In the case of the puzzle difficulties, there is a large difference between the "medium" difficulty level and the "hard" difficulty level; one of the puzzles on the "medium" level requires only simple pattern recognition, whilst the "hard" difficulty level version of the same puzzle requires knowledge of Shakespeare plays to complete.[6] The game also features unlockable weapons and costumes
Plot
Setting and characters

Silent Hill 3 is set in the fictional universe of the Silent Hill series. Seventeen years before the start of Silent Hill 3, Harry Mason defeated a god brought forth by the resident cult of Silent Hill and at the ending, was given a baby girl to care for.[11][12]

The protagonist and player character of Silent Hill 3 is Heather, the teenaged adopted daughter of Harry Mason.[11] Claudia Wolf, the cult's priestess who plans to bring about a paradise on Earth, serves as the game's antagonist.[13] As Heather attempts to unravel the reasons why the cult of Silent Hill is pursuing her, she encounters a private investigator named Douglas Cartland;[14] Vincent, a member of the cult who detests Claudia;[15] and Leonard Wolf, Claudia's abusive father
Story

At the beginning of the game, Heather awakens at a shopping mall. Before she can leave the mall, Douglas Cartland confronts her, claiming to have information about her birth.[14] Heather evades him and discovers that the mall is mostly abandoned except for monsters. She encounters Claudia, who hints about Heather's fate.[13] Heather finds herself in the Otherworld version of the mall—monster-filled and decaying—[17]and is eventually transferred back to the original shopping mall[18] where she encounters Douglas, who confesses that Claudia had hired him to find her.[19] Heather leaves the mall and resolves to take the subway home.[20] Having arrived at her residence, Heather discovers that her father has been killed by a monster under Claudia's orders,[21] who tells her that she will be waiting for her in Silent Hill[22] and leaves.

Heather resolves to go to Silent Hill, intent on killing Claudia. She meets with Douglas in her apartment and accepts his offer to drive her there.[23] On the journey there, Douglas explains that Vincent left him a message, telling them to look for a man named Leonard,[24] whilst Heather reads a memo left by her father before his death, which reveals that she is the baby girl that was left to her adoptive father, Harry Mason, at the conclusion of the first game,[11] after he defeated the god birthed by Alessa Gillespie.[25] Claudia seeks Heather to birth the cult's god, since Heather is Alessa's reincarnation.[12]

Upon arriving in Silent Hill, which is abandoned and fog-shrouded, Heather checks Brookhaven Hospital for Leonard.[26] After discovering that Leonard is Claudia's father,[16] Heather meets a transfigured Leonard, who attacks her after discovering that she is not a cult member;[27] Heather defeats him. She eventually meets Vincent, who directs her to a church via a local amusement park, purportedly at Douglas' request.[28] Upon arriving at the amusement park, Heather is transferred to the Otherworld, where she finds Douglas wounded.[29] She reaches the church and confronts Claudia, who kills Vincent. After swallowing a substance within a pendant that her father had given her,[30] Heather vomits out the deity in fetus form. Claudia swallows the fetus and dies after birthing the deity; Heather then fights and defeats the god.[31]

Three endings appear in the game. The "Normal" ending, which is the only ending available on the first play-through of the game, sees Heather and Douglas survive.[32] The "Possessed" ending sees Douglas having been killed by Heather. The "Revenge" ending, which is a joke ending accessible by performing certain in-game actions, sees Heather talking with Harry, and UFOs blow up Silent Hill

Drakensang: The River of Time

Drakensang: The River of Time is a role-playing video game developed by Radon Labs. Drakensang TROT is the second video game in The Dark Eye-universe since Attic's Northlands Trilogy from the 1990s (Realms of Arkania: Blade of Destiny, Realms of Arkania: Star Trail and Realms of Arkania: Shadows over Riva

Story

Though released after Drakensang: The Dark Eye, in-story it serves as a prequel. The game takes place around the city of Nadoret. Nadoret lies south of the city of Ferdok, the main hub of the first installment. From Nadoret the player travels the Great River to reveal a series of pirate attacks. Over the course of the game he teams up with Ardo of Boarstock, the thief Cano and the dwarf Forgrimm, who also appeared in Drakensang: The Dark Eye

Gameplay

Just like the original Drakensang, it has a traditional RPG party-based style, with a 'real-time with pause' round-based playmode as seen in games like Baldur's Gate or Neverwinter Nights.[2][3] Using a largely faithful version of the pen and paper rules, statistics, skills and talents are leveled up through universal experience points which can be applied to anything from skills which increase the amount of information found on the minimap to skills useful for combat or negotiation. The River of Time also addressed minor criticisms of the first game, such as the player's inability to return to most areas once completed.

It was released in Germany in February 2010, followed by an expansion pack called Phileasson's Secret in August 2010. It was released in English in January 2011,[1] Phileasson's Secret in May 2011
Drakensang: The River of Time was received positive in the german press and generally praised as an improvement over the first title.[7] It won the "Best RPG 2010" at the German Developer Awards in Essen, Germany.[8]

However, this second game of the franchise did not fare well financially, and subsequently Radon Labs were declared bankrupt[9] and acquired by Bigpoint Games.[10] The Drakensang brand was then turned into a online browser game franchise, that no longer connects to The Dark Eye franchise

Men of War: Condemned Heroes

Men of War: Condemned Heroes free pc game for pc full version download Men of War (Russian: В тылу врага 2: Лис пустыни (Behind Enemy Lines 2: Desert Fox)) is a real-time tactics video game and the sequel to the 2006 game Faces of War (which was a sequel to the 2004 Soldiers: Heroes of World War II), developed in partnership with Best Way and published by 1C Company, 505 Games, and Aspyr Media.

The single player campaign takes place during World War II and features battles set in Europe, the Soviet Union, Greece, and North Africa, across three different campaigns for the Allies, Germans and Soviets. Men of War features Japan as a new multiplayer faction

Gameplay

Men of War plays similarly to Faces of War and Soldiers: Heroes of World War II, with a few major differences. In Soldiers, the player controlled a small group of soldiers fighting the enemy. In Faces of War, the player controlled a few men while fighting in large battles alongside many allies. In Men of War, both of those scenarios do take place, but sometimes the player is given complete control over dozens of units. It is not uncommon for a player to have simultaneous control over many lines of defense. To make micromanagement simpler, the player is able to organize his troops into squads. In addition, the player is able to assign individuals into cover for more precision. The player is also able to call in reinforcements in the form of units, artillery barrages (from guns or offshore ships), and air support. Naval units, such as torpedo boats and submarines, are controllable for the first time.

The game includes the soldiers and arsenals of the United States, the United Kingdom (as well as Canada, Australia, and other Commonwealth states), the Soviet Union, Germany, Japan, and various resistance movements (particularly the Russian and the French). The expansion, Red Tide, adds the Romanian and Italian armies. s

Campaign

Men of War features 19 single player missions spread across four different campaigns. The game features a Soviet, German, Allied and bonus campaign.

The Soviet campaign spans the early battles of the Eastern front, through to the start of the Soviet counter-offensive. The campaign begins with the Battle of Rostov and ends after the Battle of Seelow Heights, with an epilogue showing Berlin days after its capture. The Player is represented by Alexey Kuznetsov and Victor Smirnov.

The German and Allied campaigns take place largely within the North Africa theatre. The German campaign follows a young, ambitious commander called Gunther Borg who fights as a paratrooper in Greece (Battle of Crete) before being redeployed after temporary leave to join the Afrika Korps in Libya (Tobruk) and Tunisia. The Allied campaign follows an elite American squad under the command of Terry Palmer and a Cpl. Robinson during Operation Torch as they fight alongside the British "Desert Rats" of the British 7th Armoured Division, other American soldiers, and Henri d'Astier's French Resistance.

There are also a number of bonus missions, which involve both defending and attacking objectives.

The single player campaigns can be played through cooperatively over a local TCP/IP network, or over the internet
Multiplayer

In multiplayer, there are 5 different factions to choose from; The United States, Commonwealth forces, Germany, Soviet Union and Japan (though Japan is only available in further patches).

There are a variety of game modes including Combat, Battle Zone, Frontline and Cooperative, all of which were featured in Soldiers, and two new modes - Victory flag and Valuable Cargo.

Men of War will introduce a ranking system based on the ratio of a player's wins to losses with the various multiplayer factions.

The game has the "Direct Control" feature characteristic of the series which allows the player to take over control of a unit's movements and actions with the keyboard and mouse, adding a tactical 3rd person shooter element to the game.

Modifications are still officially supported, and will still have their own Tab in Options. Games using modifications will also go under the name "Modded Game".

Steam has updated the game since 1.17.5, and other US users must manually modify their installations to patch their game for the latest multiplayer versions

Saints Row: The Third

Saints Row: The Third (also known as Saints Row 3) is an open world action-adventure video game developed by Volition, Inc. and published by THQ. It was released on November 15th in Australia and North America, set to be released on November 18th in Europe for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360[5]. It is the third title in the Saints Row series, after the release of Saints Row 2 in 2008. As in Saints Row 2, the player controls the leader of the Third Street Saints. The game world is the fictional city of Steelport, and the story focuses on the gang war between the Saints and The Syndicate, a rival criminal group

Having defeated all their rivals in Stilwater at the end of Saints Row 2, the Saints have turned their street gang into a media empire after merging with the Ultor Corporation. They have since become icons across the world, with their own energy drink, a large fanbase, and a movie deal in the works. But when they attempt to rob a bank with Josh Birk (an actor who is "researching" his part for the Saints' movie) in tow, their everyday routine takes an unlikely turn when the bank tellers fight back. The Saints attempt to airlift the vault out of the building, but when Birk sets off the alarm, it alerts the Stilwater P.D. and the Saints are incarcerated.

In prison, Johnny Gat dawns on what the Saints have become, but an international crime organization called The Syndicate bribes the police to release the Saints' leader, Gat, and Shaundi. The three are taken to the Syndicate's leader, Phillipe Loren, to try and negotiate a business plan with them aboard Loren's private jet. While in-flight, Loren tells them they will be allowed to live if they turn over two-thirds of their revenue made in Stilwater. The leader of the Saints rejects this offer and a gunfight breaks out, with the Saint's leader and Shaundi escaping from the jet while Johnny Gat tried to hold back their enemies, only to be presumably killed.

In order to get revenge on the Syndicate, the Saints relocate themselves to the city of Steelport, a city that was created as factories flourished with little city planning, but has since suffered from economic failure. The Syndicate has already taken control over Steelport, focusing on its vices to capitalize on their profits. To extend their reach, the Syndicate had divided their control of the city through three gangs: The Morningstar, led by the DeWynter sisters and Loren personally, are typically Europeans with impeccable taste who sell guns and run the prostitution rings. The Mexican wrestler Killbane controls the Luchadores, who deal with gambling and drug smuggling. The Deckers, led by hacktivist Matt Miller, are computer geniuses who handle money laundering and oversee the Syndicate's security. After finishing business with Loren, the Saints see the opportunity to take control of Steelport from these groups, and while the war between the gangs intensifies, government trained Special Tactical Anti-Gang (STAG) units will attempt to halt any violent activity whether it be perpetrated by the Saints or the Syndicate.[7]

Much like previous Saints Row games, several celebrities voice characters in the game. Daniel Dae Kim reprises his role as Johnny Gat, Sasha Grey voices Viola DeWynter, Hulk Hogan voices professional wrestler and Saints ally Angel De LaMuerte[8], and Natalie Lander voices ex-FBI agent and Saints ally Kinzie Kensington. Game designer Tomonobu Itagaki also stars in the game as a playable character[9] and Burt Reynolds stars in the game as himself, in the capacity of mayor of Steelport

Call of Duty 2

Call of Duty 2 free pc game full version download Call of Duty 2 is a first-person shooter video game and the second installment in the critically acclaimed Call of Duty series. It was developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision. It was released on October 25, 2005 for Microsoft Windows and on November 22, 2005 for the Xbox 360 in Europe, Australia and North America. Other versions were made for mobile phones as well as Pocket PCs. It was published by Konami in the Japanese market and released on the PC on March 24, 2006 and on the Xbox 360 on June 15, 2006 in Japan.

The game is set during World War II and is experienced through the perspectives of four soldiers, one in the Red Army, one in the United States Army and two in the British Army. The game was met with a positive public reception, receiving mostly positive reviews from critics.[1][2] The Xbox 360 version sold over 250,000 copies in its first week, and had sold 1.4 million copies by October 2006

Gameplay

The player can crouch and lie prone, and is able to scale low walls and other obstacles.[5] The player can carry two firearms, which can be swapped with those left on the battlefield, and also carries both fragmentation and smoke grenades. The player can use a gun's iron sights to aim more accurately. A compass on the heads-up display (HUD) shows both friends and foes, and objective markers to indicate locations the player must reach, areas to defend, or enemy cannons or tanks that the player must plant explosives on to disable. Emplaced weapons such as machine guns and flak cannons are available in some locations to take out enemy forces. In addition, some missions place the player in control of a tank.[6]

The player has a set of binoculars. While it is generally ignored during infantry-limited gameplay, it is vital to the long-range use of the 88 mm guns, Crusader tanks and one of the missions in which the player must direct artillery fire to defend a town. It is also important for scouting, though most of the game takes place in personal, close combat situations reducing the importance of this tactic.

Should the player take severe damage, the screen will turn red and the sound of the character's heartbeat will become loud; this indicates the player's health is low. The player must find a way to stay out of fire to recover before entering battle again or else will die and have to restart at the last checkpoint. Health is only restored through automatic recharging when the player is not taking fire. Some attacks, like explosions from grenades or shells, will kill the player instantly if the player is too close.[7]

In April 2006, Infinity Ward released the Call of Duty 2 Radiant, which allows a player to create their own multiplayer or single player maps.[8] Along with Radiant, the mapmaker includes Maya plug-in support, an effects editor, and an asset manager which allows custom models to be made and imported into the game, as well as custom effects

The Lord of the Rings: War in the North

The Lord of the Rings: War in the North is a role-playing video game developed by Snowblind Studios. It is based on the events taking place in the northern regions of Middle-earth in the background of the main story of J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, more specifically in Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings film trilogy universe. Players take control of a hero of the war, and are able to play through the game alone or co-operatively with other players

In a preview article in PlayStation Magazine, it was discussed that players will have skills that are upgradeable, characters that can be customized, and that conversations play out similarly to Mass Effect without the moral ramifications. Each character also has ranged attacks which they can use. Farin (the dwarf champion) has a crossbow. Eradan (the human ranger) has a bow and Andriel (the female elf mage) can cast ranged spells at enemies. All characters also have light and heavy attacks and can roll, block and counter attack enemies. Players can also issue orders to their AI companions if they are playing solo. There are also hubs in the game which function as points where the party may rest, accept new quests, speak to people and stock up on new supplies. Hubs are towns or villages.[4] Comic-Con 2011 featured gameplay of War in the North.[5]

Each class also has a unique ability. The dwarf for example can mine for gems which can be used for crafting purposes and he can also smash walls down where hidden treasure can be found. The game also features unlockable difficulty modes such as a nightmare difficulty. You can replay through the game and keep all your equipment and skills from the previous playthrough. Dialogue will normally present a few choices where the player can get just the facts, delve deeper into the lore or get optional side quests. It is unknown if there will be choices which influence the plot or change the way a quest plays out. The gameplay also relies upon the player working with friends (or with AI companions) to use tactics to defeat certain enemies

Super Street Fighter IV

Super Street Fighter IV (スーパーストリートファイター IV Sūpā Sutorīto Faitā Fō?) is a 2010 fighting game produced by Capcom. It is an updated version of Street Fighter IV and has been said to mark the definitive end of the Street Fighter IV series.[3] Having been deemed as too large an update to be deployed as DLC, the game was made into a standalone title, but given a lower price than that of a full retail game.[4] It was released on April 27, 2010 in North America, April 28, 2010 in Japan, and April 30, 2010 in Europe for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.[5] Super Street Fighter IV was released as one of the launch titles for the Nintendo 3DS, with 3D functionality, on February 26, 2011 in Japan.[6] As of March 2011, the game has sold 1.6 million units worldwide,[7] while Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition has shipped an additional 1 million copies as of April 2011

Much like Street Fighter IV, Super Street Fighter IV features 3D backgrounds and characters played on a 2D plane. Exclusive additions like Focus Attacks and separate meters for both Super and Ultra Combos make a return. The Ultra Combo gauge and moves has been left unchanged since Street Fighter IV. All characters feature at least two Ultra Combos. However, only one Ultra can be selected at a time in a way similar to the Super Arts system in the Street Fighter III series.

The goal is to exhaust the opponent's health meter before the time runs out. The player wins a round if they deplete their opponent's health meter, or have more health than their opponent when time runs out. If both players deplete their meters at the same time or contain the same amount when the round timer ends, it will result in either a "Double KO" or a draw giving both players a round win. If there isn't a clear winner by the final match, it will result in a "draw game" (during online play, both players will lose battle points, and player points, in the result of a draw game).

Similar to past entries, Super Street Fighter IV is played using an eight-way directional system giving players the ability to jump, crouch, and move towards and away from opponents. Generally, there are six attack buttons for both punch and kick commands with three of each type, differing in strength and speed. Similar to the latter two games from the Street Fighter III series, grabs are performed by pressing both light attacks, while taunts are performed by pressing both heavy attacks simultaneously.

When playing through the single-player mode, if toggled on, there are additional bonus stages allowing a chance to receive additional points, similar to the ones found in Street Fighter II. The first challenge involves breaking a car while the second has players break as many barrels as they can

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 abbreviated as Call of Duty: MW3, CoD: MW3 or simply MW3) is a first-person shooter video game, developed by Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games, with Raven Software having assisted in development.[6] It is the third installment in the Modern Warfare series, a direct sequel to 2009's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and the eighth Call of Duty installment.

In Australia, the Wii version will be released on November 23, 2011.[8] In Japan, Square Enix will handle this installment with a separate subtitled and dubbed version, as they did for Call of Duty: Black Ops. First, they will release a Japanese-subtitled version on November 17, 2011. Then, on December 22, 2011, they will release a Japanese-voice dubbed version

Like its predecessors, Modern Warfare 3 is a first-person shooter video game. Activision confirmed at Gamescom 2011, that Modern Warfare 3 on the PC has dedicated servers support

Campaign

The player assumes the role of various characters during the single-player campaign, changing perspectives throughout the progression of the story. Unlike its predecessors, the campaign is spread over different days. Each mission features a series of objectives that are displayed on the heads up display, which marks the direction and distance towards and from such objectives. Damage to the player is shown by blood splatter shown on the screen. The player's health regenerates as time passes. Objectives vary in their requirements, ranging from having the player arrive at a particular checkpoint, to eliminating enemies in a specified location, to standing their ground against enemy squadrons, and planting explosive charges on an enemy installation. The player is also accompanied by fellow soldiers who cannot be issued orders.
Cooperative

Modern Warfare 3 features a new Survival Mode. This game mode features one or two players fighting endless waves of enemies, with each wave becoming increasingly difficult. Despite being much compared to the World at War Nazi Zombies mode, enemies do not spawn at fixed locations like the zombies do; instead, they appear at tactical positions based on the current location of the player. The mode is available on all multiplayer maps in the game. In the mode, players earn "cash" for items such as weapons, upgrades, ammo, air/ground support and equipment.[10][11] Special Ops also returns from Modern Warfare 2. These challenge missions feature up to 48 stars, unlike its previous installment, which featured 69. Some weapons in Spec Ops are exclusive to that game mode, and are not available for play in Multiplayer mode.[12]
Multiplayer
The new "Recon Juggernaut" Pointstreak reward in Multiplayer Mode.

The entire Killstreak reward system has been revamped. Killstreaks are now known as Pointstreaks, and kills are no longer the only way to increase the player's pointstreak. Completing objectives such as planting the bomb in Search and Destroy or capturing a flag in Capture The Flag awards points towards the player's Pointstreak. Pointstreak rewards are organized into three different "strike packages" called Assault, Support, and Specialist. The Assault strike package works the same as the Killstreak reward system in Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops, offering rewards like the Predator drone and attack helicopters. The Support strike package offers support-style rewards, such as UAVs and SAM Turrets. Rewards from the Support category do not reset when the player dies, but accumulate over the course of a match. The Specialist strike package rewards players with perks of their choosing after every second consecutive kill. After eight kills, they receive every perk in the game, but reset back to none upon death.[13] Players are allowed to choose which Pointstreak rewards they want to use when they gain it during the match, rather than choosing them between rounds.

Along with revamping the entire Killstreak reward system, Modern Warfare 3 also has a completely modified Ranking and Unlocks system, which does not use a currency system for unlocks.[14] The player's primary weapon levels up alongside the player, and unlocks a number of "Proficiency" perks such as Kick (reduced recoil while aiming down the player's sight) and Focus (stay focused under fire). Only one Proficiency can be put on a primary weapon.[15] Another new addition is the ability to equip Hybrid Scopes on a weapon, such as a Red Dot Sight and ACOG Sight on the same weapon, and the player can switch between the scopes.[15] Modern Warfare 3 introduces a new "Prestige Shop" which will unlock only after the player has selected the option to prestige for the first time. The "Prestige Shop" allows Prestige players to use tokens they gain from using the Prestige option to buy exclusive features such as double XP and a extra custom weapon class.[16]

Several controversial perks in Modern Warfare 2, accused of being overpowered, have been removed in Modern Warfare 3. Diving from standing to prone, known as "dolphin diving", has been removed due to balancing issues.[17] Modern Warfare 3 will utilize Treyarch's hot fix system to fix bugs and glitches.[18] Modern Warfare 3 features a local and online split-screen option.[19]

Several new game modes have also been added:

"Kill Confirmed" requires players to collect floating dog tags from the corpse of a downed enemy before the kill can be registered. However, the opposing team can pick up the dog tag as well to deny the other team of a kill.
"Team Defender" requires both teams to try to capture a flag dropped by the first person who gets killed when the match starts, and hold it to gain double points per kill while the team without the flag only gets the default amount per kill.

Private matches also now include pre-made game modes including: "Infection" (where the infected kills enemies to recruit them to their team), "Drop Zone" (where the player must hold a drop zone for points and care packages), "Team Juggernaut" (each team plays alongside an AI Juggernaut character), "Gun Game" (be the first to get one kill with every gun in the game) and "One in the Chamber" (in which players are only allowed one pistol with one bullet and three lives where they can only get more bullets by killing other players). Along with this, players are allowed to create their own game modes with customized settings such as number of players and time limit.[13]
Call of Duty: Elite

Call of Duty: Elite is a new free/subscription-based service developed by Beachhead Studios for the multiplayer portion of Modern Warfare 3 (as well as the previous installment in the series, Black Ops). It was first showcased at E3 2011 and was released on November 8th, 2011 to coincide with the release of Modern Warfare 3. The free version includes features such as lifetime statistics and social-networking integration. The subscription version is priced at $49.99 USD per year and includes monthly downloadable content, daily competitions with virtual and real life prizes, the ability to level up your clan, pro analysis and strategies, and more

haracters

The game sees the return of former Task Force 141 Captain John "Soap" MacTavish (voiced by Kevin McKidd), former SAS Captain John Price (Billy Murray) and Russian informant Nikolai, who are on the run after killing the rogue U.S. Army Lt. General Shepherd. Russian Ultranationalist Vladimir Makarov (Roman Varshavsky) also reprises his role as the game's primary antagonist,[21] and has a new right-hand man named Volk. Several new playable characters have been added, including Delta Force operative Sgt. Derek "Frost" Westbrook; SAS operative Sgt. Marcus Burns; Loyalist soldier and ex-Spetsnaz operative Yuri; and Andrei Harkov, a Russian federal security agent tasked with protecting the Russian President.

New non-playable characters (NPCs) include Delta Force operatives Sandman (William Fichtner),[22] Truck (Troy Baker), and Grinch (Timothy Olyphant), who serve as Frost's squadmates. Actor Craig Fairbrass voices SAS operative Sergeant Wallcroft

Plot

Hours after killing General Shepherd, Captain John Price and Nikolai evacuate a dying John "Soap" MacTavish from Site Hotel Bravo, Afghanistan. They reach a safehouse run by Nikolai’s Loyalist allies in Himachal Pradesh, India. While Soap receives medical attention, Vladamir Makarov's forces storm the safehouse in an attempt to kill the three. An ex-Spetsnaz soldier, Yuri, aids Price in giving Soap medical help, and with securing a safe route to an extraction point out of the country. Together, the four are all that remains of the disavowed Task Force 141. They follow Makarov's trail to an arms deal in Sierra Leone and a warlord in Somalia as chemical weapons are distributed to Paris, Berlin, and London.

Meanwhile, the Russian invasion of the United States continues, culminating in the Battle of Lower Manhattan, New York. The actions of the Delta Force team callsigned “Team Metal”, including Sgt. Derek "Frost" Westbrook, Grinch, Truck, and their superior officer Sandman, facilitate the Russian withdrawal from New York. On October 3rd, Russian President Boris Vorshevsky announces plans to make peace with the United States at a summit in Hamburg, Germany. The plan is derailed when Makarov's men hijack the plane into a crash landing, kidnap Vorshevsky and attempt to do the same with his daughter, Alena. Thwarting a chemical attack on Paris, Team Metal locate Makarov in Prague, where he is about to call a meeting with his top advisors.

Once in Prague, Task Force 141 meets up with Loyalist Kamarov to attempt an assassination of Makarov. However, the plan "goes south" when Kamarov himself is taken hostage and rigged with explosives. Price escapes just as Kamarov is blown up. Makarov reveals that he knows Yuri personally. Before Soap dies of his wounds during their escape, Soap tells Price that "Makarov...knows...Yuri...". After leaving his pistol behind with Soap's body, an enraged Price punches Yuri down a staircase and is prepared to kill him. Yuri explains that he was an Ultranationalist who was present with Makarov at Price’s assassination mission, the nuclear detonation in the Middle East, and the massacre at the Zakhaev International Airport in Russia. Yuri reveals that he'd attempted to prevent the massacre, but was shot in the stomach by Makarov before he could stop it. Yuri's guilt convinces Price that they are fighting for the same thing, and Price decides to keep his alliance with Yuri for the time being.

Learning of Vorshevsky’s captivity, Price and Yuri alert Team Metal of an Ultranationalist plan to abduct Alena from a safehouse in Berlin. Team Metal are unable to prevent the kidnapping, but they are able to trace Makarov's Ultranationalists to a diamond mine in Siberia. Team Metal and Task Force 141 launch a rescue operation to save the Vorshevskys. Their actions ensure the safety of the Russian President and Alena, and end the conflict between the United States and Russia. However, three members of Team Metal are killed during the extraction, when the mine collapses on them.

With the war over, Price and Yuri track Makarov to the Hotel Oasis (loosely based on the Burj Al Arab in Dubai) in the Arabian Peninsula. On the hotel roof, Makarov attempts to escape on a helicopter, but Price hijacks it and crashes the escape craft back into the hotel roof. Makarov prepares to execute Price, but is interrupted by Yuri; Makarov ends Yuri's life instead. Angered, Price takes advantage of the moment and wraps a cable around Makarov's throat into a noose. They then both smash through the glass ceiling of the roof, resulting in Makarov's death. Price survives the fall, and the game ends with him quietly lighting a cigar while watching Makarov’s hanging corps
